Cyanotypes and the colour blue

These two cyanotype photos came about to acknowledge events going on in the lives of friends and family. Two birthdays and two deaths.  I made the images and then divided them into 4, giving a pair to each person. I think all things are interconnected and see this reflected in these images.

The cyanotype image is blue, as the name suggests. A process called 'wet cyanotype' involves an alchemical approach, adding vinegar and soap suds to the pre-coated paper can invoke yellow. The images are never predictable.

Goethe's Theory of Colours describes blue as darkness made visible. Conversely, light can limit the energy of darkness and creates yellow.
