Une constellation de
deux cimetières
Située sur l'emplacement des deux premiers cimetières à Montréal, cette installation d'art, éphémère et temporaire, marque les limites du cimetière St. Mary's (1815 - 1854) et du cimetière militaire (1814 - 1914) qui étaient situés à l'angle nord-est de Papineau et de Maisonneuve. Aujourd'hui les cimetières se situent sous la couche d'un grand parc appelé Parc des Vétérans.
De 19 h. à 21 h. une constellation de formes incandescentes faites de glace tracera les limites originales des deu cimetières. Plus tard dans la soirée les lumières une fois éteintes, les formes restantes dans la glace fondront et disparaîtront.
A constellation of
two cemeteries
Located on the site of two early cemeteries in Montreal, this
ephemeral and temporary art installation marks the boundaries of the St. Mary's
Burial Ground (1815-1854) and the Military Cemetery (1814-1944) which
were situated on the north east corner of Papineau and de Maisonneuve. Today,
the cemeteries are the under layer of a large park called Parc des Vétérans.
From 7 to 9 p.m. a constellation of glowing forms made of ice will
map the original boundaries of the two cemeteries. Later in the evening the
lights will be extinguished and the ice forms left in place to melt and
disappear.
