A 6 week artist residency working with an early photographic process, rain and 11 cemeteries in a small town. From a botanical perspective I explored the local cemeteries of Frelighsburg. Plants have a kind of double life, living half underground and half above, which enabled me to navigate both territories, one visible, one hidden.  Half of the project involved creating cyanotype works on paper. The other half took the form of flat cement stones on which I created floral images that are only visible when it rains. These images are inspired by local history connected to the cemeteries and the people buried in them.   The cement stones are installed until the end of September, 2019 in 6 different cemeteries as well as one near the Adelard artist residency.

I gratefully acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and Adélard
